We gather Friday May 3rd from 6-7 pm to honor all those migrants who have disappeared as they cross borders, on land or sea, through desert or jungle, in trucks and boats… the vigil will take place at the World Trade Center, where Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) have their New York Office.
Vigils will be held across the United States to draw attention to the growing number of migrants who have died or remain unaccounted for. On May 6th Dr. Scott Warren, a volunteer with No More Deaths/No Mas Muertes, will go to trial for trying to put out food and water in the deserts of the southwest borderlands of the United States. Later in May, Dr. Warren will go to trial again, this time for providing food, water and shelter to two undocumented immigrants in Arizona. In the second trial, Dr. Warren faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
We stand with Scott Warren and our fellow activists at No More Deaths-targeted by CBP, we stand with Ravi Ragbir- targeted by ICE, we stand with each one of our one hundred Friends, most of them women, currently in physical sanctuary across the US, as we stand with all of our courageous Friends, who defy racist and unjust laws and challenge us to envision a world without borders.
Humanitarian aid must not be criminalized, sharing water is the basis of community. Water is Life.
Meet at 6, at the designated free speech area at WTC, on the corner of CHURCH and VESEY in front of the “street art”. The Ritual is ongoing until 7.
