credit card use

EVERY TIME we use a credit card the bank/cc companies received from the merchant a 2-3% of the amount you charged on the card, and for ATM card the bank/cc co. receives a flat fee.(example .35cents).  Stop supporting these conclomerants who care little for the well being of our planet or the people they serve.

I am going back to writing checks or using cash to avoid supporting this madness of every dime I spend the bank is getting a piece of my money on finance charges as well as a peice of the merchants profits.  If we all stop supporting the conglomerant they will disappear.  This may be a little more bookkeeping but worth the results.

metro cards

Here in nyc it is sometimes hard to use a debit card to buy a metro card, also sometimes you end up at the credit card only machines so I end up using my credit card even though I have cash in my pocket and two debit cards------that burns using a credit card to ride the subway, I mean I'm still paying for it!

Bank Local -- Cooperatives

It's true, these finanical institutions skim off the top and profit every which way: when we deposit money, when we're loaned money, when we spend money, when we pay it back and even when we miss payments.

There are non-profit, community-centered banking cooperatives, however, where you can put your money and know you're not financing a war somewhere. This is the bank equivalent of a food cooperative. They're called Credit Unions and the account holders (you) are the owner. They make loans available to people and business in the community to build up our neighborhoods!

I agree with paying cash or writing checks when you can, and you can keep your savings in a neighborhood credit union to support your community. That hits the shopping-financiere complex where it hurts.
