Buy Nothing Day 2006

Celebrate Buy Nothing Day Each Year After Thanksgiving!
Buy Nothing Day 2006
Buy Nothing Day

What to do? Buy Nothing!

The day after Thanksgiving Day is the 24-hour period with the largest amount of consumption.  Instead of shopping, why not buy nothing?

For the past ten years, we have joyously celebrated Buy Nothing Day.  This year we prayed for the "Blessings of
Christmas Nothing" in Soho Square Park at Spring and Avenue of the Americas at 3 PM, Friday, November 24th. We ministered to the sick and suffering in the traffic jams around the mouth of the Holland Tunnel. This year we celebrated Buying Nothing For Global Cooling.

Traffic Jamming defined: That direct action in which citizens step into a roadway where cars and trucks are stopped, then preach and sing to the motorists while offering them information about global warming and how it's caused by buying and driving cars.

Reverend Billy's 30-Second Sermon:

Children! This year's Venal Eye-popping Sin: When your sweet gift-giving becomes a TOXIC ASTHMA AND CANCER-ENHANCING CLOUD.  Will your media cocoon on wheels - stuck for hours in our neighborhoods - bring one extinction spiking, two climates crashing, three big boxes burning, four sweatshops sweating, five polar bears drowning in a plastic petroleum-based pear tree FROM THE PIT OF HELL??!!?
